Earthing / Grounding System Design
Mitton Electronet specialises in the design and safety analysis (touch, step and earth potential rise) of new and existing earthing/grounding systems. Detailed design, specifications and installation drawings are prepared.
Design and evaluation is carried out using industry accepted software CDEGST, developed by Safe Engineering Services & Technologies
We offer the following earthing/grounding design services:
- Soil resistivity testing & analysis
- Fault current analysis & current splits
- Calculation of touch, step, transferred voltages & EPR contours
- Calculation of grid impedance
- Full earth grid design or review
- Preparation of installation specifications & drawings
We also provide services to assist with power line portable protective earthing methods and application guidelines
Earth / Ground Grid Testing
To complement our earthing design services, comprehensive on site injection testing is carried out. In many cases it is preferable to test rather than model complex or indeterminate earthing systems. Injection testing is also well suited to large sites such as transmission substation and power stations and enables measurement of touch, step and transferred voltages, EPR contours and impedance.
Testing is carried out using low current off-frequency injection methods using a portable solid state injection unit combined with tuned voltmeters (see Mitton Instruments).
